Scenic Route

For experienced cyclists, the Scenic Route offers a rewarding and adventurous ride toward the dramatic foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

This cycling route takes you through peaceful rural roads, rolling hills, and lush agricultural landscapes. Starting in Fort Portal, the ride winds through banana plantations, and small villages before you reach a small stream in Nyabitokoli. Along the way, cyclists experience authentic rural life while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding highlands.

Tea Plantation Tour

For the travelers seeking a mix of adventure and serenity, Lake Kigere offers the perfect evening ritual. A short hike to the view point where you can have a 360 view of 3 crater lakes, a reflective pause by the water, and a warm embrace of Uganda’s fading sunlight.

Locals whisper of Lake Kigere as a place where time bends. Legends speak of spirits watching over the water, and as the sun falls behind the hills, it’s easy to see why. Colors bleed across the sky, reflected in the crater lake below, and the surrounding hills glow with an otherworldly light. On this sunset ride, you feel part of that story. Fort Portal Cycling Experiences was born from a simple idea that adventure should bring people together while giving back to the places we explore. On quiet Sunday mornings in Fort Portal, we would cycle without a grand plan, no matching jerseys, just a shared love for cycling and desire to explore the rolling hills, crater lakes, and the winding village roads that make the region special.

We then developed our idea: organizing social rides to bring people together who share the love for the bicycle and the surrounding beauty. The first rides were social, easy conversations flowed smoothly as the bikes rolled along red-earthed roads. Stops were frequent not because anyone was tired, but because the views were too breathtaking to ignore. Cycling wasn’t about speed or distance, it was about connecting to each other and to Fort Portal itself. What started as a couple cycling became friends cycling , camping, and exploring Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes later grew into a movement built on connection, curiosity, and care for the environment.

We saw how outdoor experiences could do more than just offer an escape, they could educate, empower, and inspire.

Today Fort Portal Cycling Experiences continues to grow as a community of explorers, environmental stewards, and storytellers. We believe that by choosing mindful adventures, we can protect the beauty of our natural world while creating meaningful experiences that unite people across boundaries and boarders.

Together we are not just traveling, we are shaping a culture of responsible exploration that celebrates both nature and humanity.

  • Your tour includes a bicycle, helmet, fruits, a friendly guide and refreshing bottled water to keep you comfortable along the way.

  • We cater to all riding abilities by setting a comfortable pace and offering guidance along the route. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, a tour is designed so everyone can enjoy the ride safely and confidently.

  • We understand plans can change! Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule your tour. We’ll do our best to accommodate a new date or provide guidance on cancellations.

  • We are happy to offer guidance and recommendations for getting to the tour destination, including planning your trip. While we don’t book travel directly, we’ll make sure you have all the information you need for a smooth arrival.

  • We recommend bringing comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes, a water bottle ( though water is provided), a rain coat (the weather can be unpredictable and Fort Portal being in the highlands can get cold), and any other personal items you may need. If you have your own bicycle or helmet, feel free to bring them, but rentals are also available.

  • No need to be a pro! We recommend light cycling or cardio a few times a week to build stamina. Short practice rides on similar terrain can help you feel comfortable and confident, so you can fully enjoy at your own pace.

  • Transfers are not included in the tour, but we can arrange them for you at an additional cost, including airport pickups. Guests are otherwise responsible for getting to the starting point and from the finish, and we are happy to provide guidance o nearby transport options.

  • Before the tour, our team will help adjust your bike to fit you comfortably, including seat height, handlebars, and brakes. If you’re using your own bike. we recommend checking these adjustments beforehand to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride.

  • A mountain bike is a great choice if you want stability, comfort, and ability to handle rougher paths or trails along the route. It’s wider tires and durable frame make it ideal for varied terrain and give you confidence wether you’re cruising city streets or exploring off-road sections.

  • The routes features multiple rest areas where you can take a break, enjoy the scenery, and refill water. Your guide will point them out along the way to ensure you stay comfortable and energized throughout the ride.

  • Yes! We’re happy to help you create a personalized tour based on your interests, pace, and preferred stops. Just let us know what you’d like to see, and our team will help design an itinerary that makes your ride memorable.

  • Yes! We offer 4×4 airport pickups and safari 4×4 transfers for tours. These can be self-drives or with a driver. For other transport needs, we can provide guidance or arrange transfers all at an additional cost to make your trip seamless.
